I was out shopping with some pals last week and I had the strangest squabble. To take a look at the latest designer purses, and we are all raving over this fantastic new purse from Coach. If you have read any of my prior work, you would know that I’m Coach’s biggest fan. It had superb vintage styling, and was made from the best, most flexible caramel-colored leather. I was literally drooling over this purse, as were my fellow consumers.
As I was checking the bag and admiring the awesome multi-colored liner, I could sense that someone was peering over my shoulder. I turned around to find out another lady lusting after the purse I had in my hands. At about that point, I was both pissed off and scared. I was provoked by having a stranger attack my private space, and shocked by the demented and maniacal look in her eyes.
This woman looked like an addict waiting for her next fix. During the past, I wrote about my fight with being a designer purse addict. It was all in good humor and I did employ a specific amount of creative embellishment.
This lady, on the other hand, seemed as if she was going to attack me. Otherwise, I think we could have had a catfight on our hands. Of course, I made a hasty escape with my new coach purse. Later that evening, I sat at my PC to write some new copy for the site and I had a fairly tough time forgetting about this lady. It got me brooding about the bigger picture, regarding high end customer items like designer fashion accessories.
Why are folks so weirdly obsessive about trivial items? Why do we place such worth on inanimate objects? I’m often not one to think about designer purses and fashion accessories trivial, because I’m positively in love with them. But in the bigger picture that’s reality, these aren’t crucial matters.
Purses are simply something I’m inquisitive about, and write about for my web site. Sure, I have more bags than I could ever potentially put to use. But I’m much from being obsessed about them.
